Video Production

Learning experiences based around video production can be a powerful tool for engaging students. By giving students the opportunity to create their own videos, they can develop an extensive range of technical skills and gain a deeper understanding of subject matter.

Example Projects


Short Film: Students can create a short film that tells a story or explores a particular theme or topic.

Documentary: Students can create a documentary about a particular topic or issue that interests them.

Music Video: Students can create a music video for a song of their choice. 

Event Coverage: Students can film and edit a video that covers a particular event, such as a school dance, concert, or sports game. This project can involve multiple camera angles and interviews with participants.

Educational Video: Students can create a video that explains a concept or idea in a particular subject, such as science or history. This project can involve research, visual aids, and demonstrations.

Advertisement: Students can create an advertisement for a product or service of their choice. This project can involve writing a script, storyboarding, filming, and editing.

PSA (Public Service Announcement): Students can create a PSA that raises awareness about a particular issue or cause, such as bullying or the environment. This project can involve research, interviews, and creative storytelling.

Video Blog: Students can create a video blog, or vlog, that shares their thoughts and experiences on a particular topic, such as travel or food. This project can involve filming, editing, and promotion.


Live-Streaming

Live streaming refers to the process of broadcasting live video and audio content over the internet, allowing viewers to watch the event in real-time from anywhere in the world. Schools can leverage live streaming technology in many ways.

Example Projects

Live streaming of a school concert: Students could organise and produce the transmission of a live school concert, featuring school musicians or bands, and stream the event live online for audiences to enjoy.

Live streaming of a school event: Students could stream a school event live online for family or friends who cannot attend in person.

Live streaming of a cooking show: Students could host a cooking show, featuring a series of recipes and cooking demonstrations, and stream the show live online for viewers to follow along.

Live streaming of a charity event: Students could organise a charity event, such as a walkathon or a fundraising event, and stream the event live online to increase awareness and encourage donations.

Live streaming of a classroom lesson: Teachers could set up a live stream of a classroom session, allowing remote students to join in and participate in the class discussion. This lesson could include multiple camera shots / angles, ‘green-screen’ effects, as well as video clips intercut in the broadcast.

Live streaming of a gaming tournament: Students could organise a gaming tournament, featuring popular age appropriate video games, and stream the tournament live online for audiences to watch.

Live streaming of a public speaking event: Students could organise a public speaking event, featuring speakers who present on various topics, and stream the event live online for viewers who cannot attend in person.

Graphics / C.A.D

Graphic design based learning experiences typically teach students the fundamental principles of visual communication and design, including typography, colour theory, composition, and layout. Students learn how to use design software to create and manipulate images, graphics, and layouts. In addition to the technical skills, this learning supports  developing students' creativity, critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills.


CAD (Computer-Aided Design) learning teaches students how to use specialised software to create 2D and 3D models of products, buildings, and other objects. This learning typically covers topics such as geometric modelling, surface modelling, solid modelling, and parametric modelling.

Affinity Designer

Digital Painting: Students can use software such as Photoshop or Krita to create digital paintings. They can experiment with different techniques such as brush strokes, textures, and colour palettes.

Digital Photography: Students can use digital cameras and image editing software to create and edit digital photographs. They can experiment with different lighting, composition, and editing techniques.

Digital Storytelling: Students can create digital stories using images edited and sequenced to create short films or documentaries.


Audio Production

Audio production teaches students the skills and knowledge necessary to create high-quality audio recordings, whether for music, film, video games, or other applications.

Podcast Production: Students can create a podcast series covering topics like current events, music, sports, interviews, or any subject of interest. They can write scripts, record and edit interviews or monologues, add background music, and publish the final product on popular podcasting platforms or shared internally.

Radio Play: Students can create an audio drama, including voice actors, sound effects, and music. They can write a script, record the actors' performances, and edit the final product using audio software.

Music Production: Students can create their original music compositions. They can record instruments or use virtual instruments and effects in Digital Audio Workstations (DAW) to create the final mix.

Sound Design for Film: Students can work on a film project, creating sound effects, and soundscapes. They can record sound effects or create them using Foley techniques, mix and synchronise them with the video, and create a final sound mix.

Audio Documentary: Students can research a topic and create an audio documentary. They can interview experts or witnesses, gather sound bites, and use narration to tell a story. They can also add music or other sound elements to enhance the listening experience.

Audio Book: Students can record an audiobook of a public domain novel or create an original audiobook. They can use their voices to narrate the story, add sound effects or music to create an immersive listening experience.

Music Video: Students can create a music video for a song they compose. They can plan a video concept, film the scenes, and edit the video to synchronise it with the music.


App / Game Design

Game design can cover a wide range of topics and skills, depending on the level and focus of the learning experiences. Student sessions with game design can teach students a wide range of skills and knowledge related to game development, from coding and programming to art and storytelling. Experiences with software development can provide a strong foundation for students who want to pursue careers in game development or related fields.
